Bosnia-Herzegovina
The Swedish National Audit Office cooperates since the year 2000 with the three Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The overall goal of this partnership is to establish sustainable and accountable organizations able to contribute to democratic development through improved transparency and accountability in the public sector. Until the end of 2009 our partnership covered the strengthening of the institutional capacity and the development of both financial and performance audit skills.
In the year 2010 a new cooperation project focused on the further development of performance audit within the SAIs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this time also including the audit institution of the Brcko district.
The project aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the performance audit, the establishment of a well-functioning interaction of the SAIs with their respective Parliaments, constructive relations with their Governments as well as with other main stakeholders. It envisages the development of the capacity of the SAIs to carry out performance audits and to submit well-written reports serving as valuable input for their Parliaments. The project also covers the development of strategic and operational leadership. The recruitment of relevant members of staff will be essential for the management and so will also the performance of certain internal training.
The project runs until the end of 2012.
This partnership was initiated in year 2000 by the predecessor of the Swedish National Audit Office, Riksrevisionsverket and fully financed by Sida until the end of 2003.
