Tanzania 
The Swedish National Audit Office started its cooperation with the Supreme Audit Institution of Tanzania (NAOT) in the fall of 2004.
During the initial phase of the project we focused on financial audit, performance audit and on the revision of the audit law for NAOT. The second phase started in March, 2008, and will go on until June 2012. This phase focuses on the introduction of a new audit manual and on how to continue the development of performance audit within the SAI. Support in the IT area is also included in the cooperation.
The cooperation project is carried out on site in Tanzania by two Swedish auditors; one project manager and one auditor with responsibility to develop the financial audit within NAOT. Other colleagues from the Swedish National Audit Office, as well as Swedish and local consultants, are engaged in the project on short-term basis.
