Riksrevisor Helena Lindberg.

– It is very valuable for us to contribute to the discussion on institutional- and democracy building efforts. We notice that we can draw from our experience both as the national audit office of Sweden and from our international commitments.

Supreme audit institutions are an integral part of a democratic society and the Auditors General gave some insight into Riksrevisionen’s mission and function as a part of the system for parliamentary control. The Armenian delegation also had questions on Riksrevisionen’s development cooperation and other international obligations.

The themes for the Armenian Speaker’s visit to Sweden was democracy building, Swedish democracy aid, EU related issues as well as equality and women’s political participation. When building democracy, the audit of public sector governance is highly topical, and the Armenian government has already made it a priority to fight corruption.

During the three-day visit, the Armenian Speaker will also have an audience with His Majesty the King, as well as meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms Margot Wallström, Minister for International Development Cooperation Mr Peter Eriksson and Speaker of the Riksdag Mr Andreas Norlén.
